I was excited to try Lunchskins reusable bags or snack, but reading a review on Monday of a user who has fought with the mold on the web. Many parents love the product, but others have also complained about the stale food and not being able to dry enough bags before the next use.

Bags of moldy and rotten food reports make me hesitate about making a purchase. A $ 7-15 U.S. dollars a bag, it is difficult to spend much and do not know if it will work. Has anyone commented on reusable bags snack? Are you able to use them successfully? What is your trick to prevent mildew on the fabric?

Lara Bars are my new addiction. Unlike most cereal bars or energy bars, most of the flavors contain nothing but dried fruit and nuts. However, they are not cheap. They usually cost more than a dollar at the bar, even if you buy the family package. (This nut fruit bar Lara and the food package costs $ 25.21 for 16 bars, which goes for $ 1.58/bar.)

Soon I found myself looking for ways to make homemade Lara Bars. I really like the Hot Fudge Brownie chocolate-covered bars Lara Katie. He has a huge list of Lara bars recipes to try. Lara bars, and these home-cooked meals with the family seem very resourceful than me, which I prefer to just roll the balls and store in a glass container.

I created my own without cooking date and nut bars that are naturally gluten-free, many times. Here’s my method:

Basic homemade bar Lara

1 cup (120 g) in any format you want NUTS

1 1 / 3 cup (230 g) pitted dates

salt

Put the food processor and mix until all is blended. Roll into small balls and store in a glass bottle in the refrigerator. If mixture is too dry, add a little water if too sticky, add a little crazy. Enjoy!

When you first find the perfect lunch box BPA my garden, it had not yet decided what to buy. Audrey had already chosen Crocodile Creek Lunch Box pocket, so he was treated. I knew I wanted a kind of container to put on, and I was leaning toward the container with 3 compartments lunchbox easy.

I decided not to buy after reading the product description more carefully. While I like the idea of having a common container or rather a collection of containers for keeping track of the lid does not close all the rooms. Some critics complained that if something like strawberries pack a room and chips in the other, all I had the opportunity to mingle around until lunchtime.

Over the years, we used Sassy Baby Bento Box (Read My Sassy Baby Bento information closer) for daycare snack Audrey. I was really happy with this product, but there was one big problem: he could not open the containers themselves.

I ended up buying something I had not encountered my first Search for BPA-free containers: divided into Ziploc containers ($ 8.75 2-much cheaper than the portable lunch!). They resemble Easy Lunchboxes, but the lid does not close each section separately. In addition, the Ziploc website their containers BPA-free. My five year old can take the lid and put it back on its own. And best of all, the container does not fit perfectly into her Crocodile Creek lunch. There’s even room to spare for the cloth napkin.

Audrey Monday was the first full day in kindergarten, so we give this system a whirl and report back in a few months!

Over the past seven years, our composting system rather trite to say that all animal-based foods were not thrown in. No rotation, no irrigation, balance and brown / green. But there were consequences for our reluctance to accept the laws of fertilizer ….

Knowing that my husband ended up taking off our compost bin and mix the pile of dirt, I took my children outside to reveal a pile of rich, composted soil. Unfortunately it was a pretty traumatic scene. Dozens of young mice were pouring out of the bin and flee for their lives when my husband drove them across the yard, occasionally clubbing moving targets by the end of a shovel. Not exactly the moment the Mother Earth.

Now we have a cat, but I’m not sure you can keep the mice away from a constant source of nutrition. Does anyone else have this problem? It happened twice and I have to pass some kind of worm farm or Bokashi bin that works inside. Any success with one of these systems?

Another dilemma back at school: What is the perfect bottle of water? Must be made of plastic or stainless steel safer to avoid harmful chemicals such as BPA and should be easy for a child to manage alone.

Once upon a time, Joy wrote his favorite stainless steel water bottle, bottle of Nathan Stainless Steel Flip Straw. There are similar options for children? The same label can not provide a version for children: Children Nathan Stainless Steel Bottle ($ 13.99). His son, Joy loves Children Camelbak Water Bottle Stainless Steel ($ 15.23) which is armed preschool over the past two years, and has also heard wonderful things Klean action such as bottled water, which can easily transition from sippy cup of regular basis when you buy a bottle attachments.

As for me, we chose the beverage Bottle Creek Crocodile reusable stainless steel (from 9). We had designed the dancer Audrey to go with his backpack Crocodile Creek Crocodile Creek Lunchbox. (We have seen many other young athletes in his other designs Crocodile Creek Elementary School, so it looks like we made it a popular choice!) If you are interested in saving a few dollars, some of the designs on Amazon is cheaper than others.

Sigg water bottles for kids ($ 18.95) is an expensive solution, but they are large in various designs. They are also suitable for very young children, many of the reviewers rave about their children understand how to use it on your own.

Eco Ship child bottle with straw top ($ 13.95) holds 13 ounces of liquid, making it larger than the other kids bottles “over there. It also comes in some beautiful designs.

Do you have a favorite bottle of water for your child? Let us know!
